The National Defense Authorization Act will begin conferencing when Congress comes back in session. Both military leadership and contracting firms are considering how the final bill will affect them. David Berteau, president & CEO of the Professional Services Council, says that contractors want to see some repeals become part of the final bill.
“The things that we’re most concerned about are failing to repeal some bad provisions from previous bills,” Berteau said. “A couple of years ago, the House and Senate required DoD to establish a separate cost accounting standards board. Just picture a scenario where companies have to comply with two different sets of standards in order to do business with the government. Fortunately, DoD have been not been very rapid in implementing the legislation. That repeal is very critical and vital to us.”
