In this extended interview, Vice Adm. Raquel Bono, director of the Defense Health Agency, discusses the rollout of MHS GENESIS, and reflects on her time in the role during her last televised interview as agency head.

The Military Health System is starting to implement their new electronic record-keeping system at the start of September. The limited rollout has already seen success at health centers in the Pacific Northwest. Vice Adm. Raquel Bono, director of the Defense Health Agency, wants to see the program become implemented across the country soon.

“I would love to see us get more proficient at this, that we could roll this out in a timely fashion. I would like to see is that we’ve got a timeline set up for the full deployment of MHS GENESIS. As we get better with that, I would love to see the overall timeline compressed,” Bono said. “I think that our patients and our providers are going to want to use MHS GENESIS as a preference. As we get better in stabilizing our networks and upgrading things, we will get faster. In the ideal situation, I would love to see the deployment speed up.”
