Space has become an integral part of warfighting. Similar to the creation of the U.S. Space Force, the United Kingdom created the UK Space Command. The commander, Air Vice-Marshal Paul Godfrey, is in Washington, D.C. for meetings with senior defense leaders.
- Godfrey told Government Matters the command was created last year and started with around 400 people who had already been doing space-related work.
- The UK Space Command is working with the U.S. military with the main goal of adding value, he said.
- Godfrey signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S. Space Command in April and had combined talks last week to look at future plans and integration.
