As part of the Treasury’s annual letter to the federal financial community, the department lays out several recommendations for those in leadership roles. Tim Gribben, commissioner of the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, says that the Treasury’s 10-year vision provides a good roadmap for the office’s priorities.
“There are four priorities that we want to accomplish that will help CFO’s become better thought leaders in their agencies,” Gribben said. “As a former CFO, I know we spend a lot of time on the financial transactions, system maintenance and security. We spend a lot of time on compliance and low value reporting. Instead, what we want is to go to a future where the CFOs are thought leaders for their agencies and are focused on performance and marrying performance together with financial information.”
