GEN Paul Funk, commander of U.S. Army TRADOC, details how he’s preparing soldiers for the future fight, and how his command fits into the Army’s modernization push.

The Army’s Training and Doctrine Command is in charge of preparing soldiers to fight and win in future conflicts. GEN Paul Funk, the new commander of U.S. Army TRADOC, said at AUSA 2019 that people are the Army’s most important resource. He told Government Matters that ensuring soldiers are adaptable and prepared is his top priority.

“You focus on your leader development. Focus on putting them in situations where they can adapt, they can learn, they can function as the leader of an organization and then turn it into a learning opportunity,” Funk said. “It is really focusing on the fact that everyone is a leader in the Army. And as long as we’ve got good leadership and good young men and women who can adapt to situations we’re gonna be just fine.”
