The potential uses of 5G are taking the tech sector by storm, but the military is viewing the standard with a keen eye. Sal D’Itri, chairman of the National Spectrum Consortium, says that 5G needs a use case that will blow the market wide open, both for the government and private sector.
“What we are seeking to do is to find that killer app. What application is going to enable the warfighter both from global logistics to things like augmented reality to better capabilities. That’s what is really going to prove out 5G. And quite frankly I think on the commercial side, the commercial industry is looking for the same. What is the app that is really going to drive the 5G network?”
