The latest $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill includes $1 billion for the Technology Modernization Fund. The Senate voted on the bill’s amendments over the weekend.
- After an all-night voting session on amendments, the Senate passed the bill Sat. morning, agreeing to provide $300 per week of federal unemployment benefits through Sept. 6, with tax relief for laid-off workers, according to Caitlin Emma, Budget and Appropriations Reporter at Politico.
- Emma said the bill will go back to the House, where it will likely pass as soon as Tuesday, after which President Biden will probably sign it as soon as possible before federal unemployment benefits expire on March 14.
- Emma said the bill includes $570 million for up to 15 weeks of paid leave for federal employees once they have exhausted their sick leave for any kind of pandemic-related situation.
