With the omnibus spending bill giving agencies six months to spend a year’s worth of funds, communication between agencies and contractors will become extremely important. As both defense and civilian agencies are looking to open more dialogue with industry, what effect will the current state of the market have? “I think government has their hands full right now… six months to spend a year’s worth of funding is a challenge with an already strapped acquisition workforce,” said Brad Antle, CEO of Salient CRGT. “They already have a lot on their plate and they are being asked to appropriate more than, in some cases, the agency thought they were going to get. It’s a real challenge. And then you wonder why there are complaints about flawed procurements and industry having protests with some of the those. It is really because we are trying to do too much too fast.”
