In 2020, the Peace Corps evacuated thousands of volunteers from all over the world because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over two years later, volunteers are back serving communities.
- Chief Executive Officer Carol Spahn said the Peace Corps is “very excited” to be inviting volunteers back to 48 countries. Before the pandemic, they were in 64 countries.
- The Peace Corps started a Virtual Service Pilot that it plans to continue as a complement to the rest of the program, said Spahn.
- Volunteers also helped with vaccine distribution in the United States during Covid-19, she said.
