The relatively small country of Estonia, with a population of 1.3 million people, has provided nearly $300 million in aid to Ukraine. They have also taken in over 60,000 refugees.
Estonia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Kristjan Prikk stated roughly 2.85 percent of the country’s GDP is spent on defense.
Estonia has taken in over 60,000 Ukrainian refugees. The Estonian government and private citizens have worked together to ensure these refugees have shelter, access to health care and access to schooling, according to Prikk.
Estonia is helping Ukraine because it wants to do the “morally right” thing, he said, and because the war is about the future of Estonia and its freedom and security as well.
