A major focus of the current administration is revitalizing American manufacturing. Over the last two years, billions of dollars have been set aside to support the industry, and new technologies have the potential to revolutionize the way things are made.
- The Manufacturing Extension Partnership has helped millions of manufacturers learn new technologies, grow efficiency and find domestic suppliers in the United States over the last 30 years of the program, Pravina Raghavan, director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership at NIST said.
- 3-D printing body organs may be the future of 3-D printing technology, though it is still in its infancy, she explained.
- Predictive maintenance can help manufacturers save money and bring down the costs of their products by placing sensors in their products, according to Raghavan. These sensors can also help increase visibility of the supply train, she said.
