A pay raise for federal employees is supported by both Congress and the White House, but exactly how much is up in the air. The House wants a raise of 3.1%, but the president only supports a 2.6% increase. Jessica Klement, staff vice president for advocacy at NARFE, says that as long as an agreement can be reached, she thinks federal employees will see a pay raise next calendar year.
“Let’s say they can come to an agreement on this, I am optimistic for the 3.1 percent. House leaders are pushing that, they understand the importance of locality pay,” Klement said. “It is the also the same raise that the military is getting in 2020. I think the argument for parity is coming back.”
