President Biden plans to nominate Biniam Gebre to lead the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP). If the Senate confirms him, Gebre would face challenges running the OFPP, such as hiring more acquisition professionals and making it easier to buy cutting edge technologies.
- Angela Styles, former administrator of federal procurement policy, now partner at Akin Gump, and Jim Williams, former Federal Acquisition Commissioner at the General Services Administration, now partner at Schambach & Williams Consulting, said Gebre should rely on the excellent OFPP staff to help move the Biden administration’s agenda forward.
- Major challenges facing OFPP are the Buy American Act, supply chain cybersecurity and support for Small Disadvantaged Businesses, said Styles.
- Williams said it is important to partner with universities and convince young people and veterans to consider careers in acquisition.
