Brig. Gen. Gregory Touhill (USAF Ret.) president of Cyxtera Federal Group, details how the Pentagon’s new cybersecurity certification is progressing, and how it could impact use of best practices.

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification is the Pentagon’s latest effort to ensure that their contractors are up to snuff when it comes to network security. Brig. Gen. Gregory Touhill (USAF Ret.) president of Cyxtera Federal Group says that it’s important contractors aren’t just following the threat, but staying ahead of it.

“Having a compliance based model isn’t nesessarily the best thing… The threat always changes.Following best practices, I believe, is a better strategy than checking the box,” Touhill said.
