The latest pandemic relief bill gives federal employees up to 15 weeks of paid sick leave if they are affected by the virus, need to get a vaccine or are caring for someone who can’t care for themselves or for a child learning virtually.

  • Terry Gerton, President and CEO of NAPA, said this will have a positive effect on employee morale, retention and productivity, and it will keep the workforce healthy, but it will also require agencies to put out clear guidance.
  • Angela Styles, Member of the Public Buildings Reform Board, said the most significant piece of the bill is the stressful impact of additional programs on federal employees who have had to implement them quickly and accurately with their existing workforce; she said the latest bill does provide some additional resources to help in this effort.
