A new survey of federal employees is coming from the Office of Personnel Management. The Federal Workforce Competency Initiative will collect data the agency will use for job design, recruitment, performance management and training.
- Mika Cross, Federal Workplace Expert, said this survey could help refresh competency models that have been used for decades but have not been updated in at least 10 years.
- Cross said it is important to tackle the culture element and that modernizing the survey data would make it more user-friendly.
- The pandemic has brought new questions of what competencies will look like in a hybrid work environment, added Cross.
