The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) provides military intelligence to warfighters and Defense Department policymakers. The agency is creating a new office to combine oversight, transparency and compliance efforts.
- Brent Evitt, director of the Office of Oversight and Compliance at DIA, said the goal is to combine upstream and downstream processes and increase efficiency by bringing multiple elements under one roof.
- Evitt said the office will combine the robust intelligence oversight program, which protects the privacy and liberties of American citizens, with the records management, Freedom of Information Act and declassification programs.
- Evitt said the organization will measure success through reduction of backlogs and increase in information added to a transparency portal, which helps build public trust.
