The Senate passed a new bill aiming to expand small business opportunities in federal contracting. This comes as contractors wrap up their acquisition pipelines for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2021.
- Larry Allen, president of Allen Federal Business Partners, said the bill will likely pass the House and is consistent with the administration’s focus on increasing opportunities for small businesses and making sure federal acquisition officials consider them.
- Allen said working with small companies with special status that government customers could be looking for allows larger businesses to participate in work they might not get to otherwise while letting the small businesses take the lead.
- Allen said some mistakes contractors make at the end of the fiscal year include doing business with companies they have never heard of, not following through and not telling the customer how they can get the available solutions.
