In late 2017, the Department of Defense announced that the Acquisition, Technology and Logistics office would be split into two separate offices. The Senate recently confirmed two undersecretaries for the new offices, but the current heads say that not much will change for a few months.   “The key thing that had to be in place was that the new R&E undersecretary needed to be in place, and now that’s happened,” said Bill Greenwalt, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. “I think you can have the leadership discussions [now] that really determine what the roles and responsibilities are between the two offices.”
