Modernizing federal hiring & workforce management
As talk of modernization sweeps Washington, one of the often-mentioned items is workforce management. While prior attempts to improve talent acquisition have failed, the White House’s agency reorganization initiatives have renewed hope that the reforms will be completed soon.
“Civil Service reform sounds a bit wonky, but it is something that is fundamentally needed in our government,” said Mallory Barg Bulman, vice president of Research & Evaluation at the Partnership for Public Service. “I’ve talked with leaders of the top private sector companies and the top government agencies, and they’ll all tell you the same thing; That the ‘secret sauce’ to having great outcomes is in great talent, and getting that great talent is really challenging.”
