The Air Force has a monthly cycle of training now to certify its own public sector data governance professionals. The Air Force has been training airmen, guardsmen, Air National Guardsmen and even Navy sailors since last fall.
- Eileen Vidrine, Chief Data Officer at the Air Force, described the demand for data in the Air Force right now as fitting into a data ecosystem with the mission at its core and mission enablers driving insight from the data.
- Vidrine said they built a cloud-based data platform called the VAULT (visible, accessible, understandable, linked and trustworthy) as a self-service capability allowing airmen and Guardians (Space Force personnel) to have available, accurate and actionable data.
- Vidrine emphasized the importance of working together across the services to share data and collaborating with trusted partners in the Air Force and Space Force to successfully operationalize data and accelerate change.
