Frederick Carr, associate deputy assistant secretary for Financial Operations at the Air Force, discusses what they have learned from last year’s Pentagon audit, and what they’re looking for in this year’s.

The Department of Defense is nearing the end of their second annual audit. Frederick Carr, associate deputy assistant secretary for Financial Operations at the Air Force, says that the audit has moved into a new phase.

“We were hitting the low hanging fruits initially, we were just focused on corrective actions for the findings. Now we are getting into the core of our strategy. What are the big rocks that we need to make progress on to get down to where we hit root cause…” Carr said. “Putting band aids over it doesn’t work. We need to get to root cause and strategizing to get those big rocks fixed, that will get us closer.”
