Tony Cole, chief technology officer at Attivo Networks, discusses congressional efforts to save the position of White House Cybersecurity Coordinator and why he thinks that the position should be elevated.

Last week, the Trump administration moved to eliminate the position of White House Cybersecurity Coordinator. While a spokesperson for the National Security Council says that cyber coordination is already a “core capability,” two House members have proposed a bill to make the position permanent.   “I think we really need someone at the senior level who has the president’s ear,” said Tony Cole, chief technology officer at Attivo Networks. “I think there should be an assistant to the president specifically for cyber today. “When you think about the fact that NATO, the United States military and many of their allies have dedicated cyber as a domain to work, fight and dominate in. Well, the same thing that we need to do the protect this nation is to have a coordinated effort across the board… our economy depends on it.”
