Thousands of veterans are utilizing benefits authorized under the GI Bill. Now that the Post 9/11 GI Bill and the Forever GI Bill are both law, it’s up to Congress to set up the future of these benefits for those who serve. Patrick Murphy, former Congressman (D-PA), says that the GI bill benefits are important for the military to hire the force it needs.
“We want to make sure it’s a huge recruitment tool. When we ask 1% of our country to serve during the longest wars in American history, Afghanistan and Iraq, and pass on the benefits that they have earned to their spouses or kids, it is incredibly important,” Murphy said. “The fact that DoD stepped up and make sure that they transferred the benefits with the GI Bill and the Forever GI bill, was incredibly important.”
