Mike Brown is President Biden’s choice to become under secretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment. If the Senate confirms him, consolidation in the defense industrial base is one thing he will need to watch.
- Jerry McGinn, Executive Director of the Center for Government Contracting at George Mason University, said the nomination of Mike Brown is an excellent choice and a signal that mergers and acquisitions will be conducted on a case-by-case basis.
- McGinn said adjusting antitrust rules is not the right approach to address concerns about companies becoming too big and that there are better tools such as Section 230.
- An important focus should be helping small companies in the defense industrial base scale, said McGinn.
