- Bradley Bowman, Senior Director for the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said the challenges facing AFC are a microcosm of those the entire Defense Department confronts, predominantly the United States’ eroding military supremacy in the face of authoritarian aggression from China and Russia.
- In order to modernize our forces and deter a possible attack from Beijing in the next six years, AFC must extinguish the “valley of death” of going from vital research and development programs to fielded capabilities, explained Bowman.
- Bowman said he is concerned about possible flat or reduced defense budgets in the next few months and said if we provide DoD with sufficient budgets, we can field the capabilities our forces will use for the next 20 to 30 years.
