President Biden signed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill last year. So far, more than $80 billion of it has been dedicated to projects. Transportation Secretary Buttigieg recently updated lawmakers on progress and challenges.
The projects underway focus on the supply chain, climate change and new technology, said Eugene Mulero, senior congressional reporter at Transport Topics.
He said the secretary told Congress the Department of Transportation is calculating how to respond to inflation, “a really big concern.”
Some of the oversight mechanisms include an infrastructure czar and a multi-agency task force, said Mulero.
