Jonathan Alboum, public sector chief technology officer at Veritas, details why he believes that the government needs a unifying tech strategy, and why federal tech is ‘like the Karate Kid’

The government is undergoing numerous efforts to improve their digital footprint. From the Centers of Excellence to the Technology Modernization Fund, each of these programs has a similar goal. Jonathan Alboum, public sector chief technology officer at Veritas, says that there needs to be a unifying force behind them.

“You have the data strategy that is coming, you have the new approach on data centers. All these things are building strong digital muscles, as I call them. But at this point, they are disconnected,” Alboum said. “A national digital strategy from my perspective creates a framework for using these skills to drive towards a more integrated government. One that is not focused on how a customer works with only one agency but how a customer works across the whole federal government.”
