Hurd and Hoyer merge bills designed to modernize federal IT
The latest draft of Rep. Will Hurd’s (R-TX) MOVE IT Act has been renamed, and merges the ideas presented in that legislation with the IT Modernization Act — a bill introduced by Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.)
Government Matters has learned the new bill, dubbed the Modernizing Government Technology Act or MGT, is designed to serve as a comprehensive IT modernization package. MGT does not include proposed reforms to FedRAMP — the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
The compromise legislation is expected to be considered by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday. It could move to the full House for consideration as early as Monday, September 19th.
