Greg Baroni, chairman and CEO at Attain, discusses trends in federal contracting, and how industry and government can work together better.

The acquisition field is seeing huge changes as government agencies seek to streamline how they procure new technology. Greg Baroni, chairman and CEO at Attain, says that the only qualifier for best in class acquisitions are whether companies want to use them.

“I have watched our company grow from what you would call from a small business that leveraged those best in class vehicles… and migrate to what is now called the mid-tier. For me, in order to make them best in class, it should be a level playing field for all the participants; small, medium and large…” Baroni said. “The concern I have in the use of these vehicles, is whether they are in effect a level playing field for the mid-tier. I say that because you have the set aside categories, you have the large businesses, and then you have this gulf, this no man’s land or the valley of death. The best in class vehicles need to make sure they are treating each of those firms equally.”
