GEN Michael Garrett, commander of Army Forces Command, explains how he’s looking to help the branch’s modernization process, and the collaboration happening between commands.

The new leader of Army Forces Command is examining how the Army will bring their troops into the 21st century military landscape. GEN Michael Garrett, commander of Army Forces Command, says that balancing requirements is key to these efforts.

“The Forces Command is the Army, it’s the active, reserve and guard component. We will be the forces that are modernized. All the equipment will come to Forces Command. Balancing modernization requirements with readiness requirements is a different problem than we’ve had in the past,” Garrett said. “This is not new, we’ve done this before, but we’ve not done it under the same level of pressure in terms of where our soldiers are deployed around the world today.”
