Gene Dodaro is the head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO). It oversees federal operations and protects American tax-payer dollars.
- The GAO investigated college financial aid and found that in 91% of cases, colleges were not providing accurate information about the costs of attending the school to students, Dodaro said. In response to these findings, the GAO recommended Congress require more standardized information be given to students and parents.
- The Transportation Department recently made changes that reflect a 2015 recommendation by the GAO to develop a transportation safety program for communicable diseases, according to Dodaro.
- In 2023, the GAO will be following trends in artificial intelligence, regenerative medicine, energy and other technologies, he said.
