The House Armed Services Committee will release proposals for the defense supply chain in July. One of the key stakeholders of the defense supply chain has some risk management problems it needs to deal with. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report documenting risk management deficiencies in inventory systems at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
- Vijay D’Souza, director of information technology and cybersecurity at GAO, said his office found “significant weaknesses” in how well DLA had applied the Defense Department cybersecurity risk management framework to four out of six categories.
- D’Souza said DLA’s use of automation to streamline cybersecurity documentation helped in some areas but created problems with documentation and oversight gaps in others.
- D’Souza said GAO will continue to track and report progress, and he anticipates continued investigation given the increase in threats to supply chain cybersecurity.
