The new numbers from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey show employees who telework are more engaged than employees who do not. Many of the survey numbers improved even though the government was working through a pandemic.
- Jeffrey Neal, Former Chief Human Capital Officer at the Department of Homeland Security, said chief human capital officers should look at the data for specific groups of employees because 40% of survey respondents were GS-13, GS-14 or GS-15 level and the numbers are misleading.
- Terry Gerton, President and CEO of the National Academy of Public Administration, said employees at agencies that had bigger missions during the pandemic felt very positively about their impact.
- Neal said the results clearly show people like telework but that they also wanted more IT support than they received.
