Ari Schwartz, managing director of cybersecurity services at Venable, discusses efforts to overhaul FedRAMP, and why the program needs better scalability.

A new bill promises to revitalize the Federal Risk Authorization Program. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) introduced the bill along with Rep. Mark Meadows to improve agency buy-in to the FedRAMP program. Ari Schwartz, managing director of cybersecurity services at Venable, says that FedRAMP needs better scalability.

“It has not worked the way people thought it would as it scales up. Now we have to find ways to make it scale,” Schwartz said. “The automation piece is important as well, and being able to use continuous monitoring is another thing that people want to talk about, and there are continuous monitoring pieces in there today, but being able to use it at a DHS program is in the bill as well and something that I think people want to see.”
