Tony Scott, senior data privacy & cybersecurity adviser at Squire Patton Boggs, discusses the new report outlining how agency cybersecurity programs are “at risk” and details OMB and DHS’s plan to fix them.

According to a report issued by the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Homeland Security, more than 70 percent of federal cybersecurity programs are “at risk.” In a blog post, Federal CIO Suzette Kent called the findings “unacceptable.” An action plan released alongside the report lists four main goal to bring the agencies security standards up.   “The key points that [the report] raised are some of the key issues that we have been seeing for some time,” said Tony Scott, senior data privacy & cybersecurity advisor at Squire Patton Boggs. “I was pleased to see that it put an exclamation point on these and compels agencies to take further action.”
