LTG Thomas Seamands, Deputy Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army, details the Army’s new personnel plan, and the impact it has on roles at the military branch.

The Army People Strategy is the branch’s new plan for building up their ranks. The document includes and a new process to assign officers to command roles. LTG Thomas Seamands (USA), Deputy Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army, says that the assignment process needed an overhaul to keep up with the times.

“Congress has been very generous to the Department of Defense, giving us the ability to experiment and try different things. We’ll bring 100,000 new applicants into the force this year, they may have different aspirations and desires in how they’ll approach and think about things. [We’ll be] able to bend and change how we do things,” Seamands said.
