The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) plans to put ethical hackers on a new cybersecurity advisory committee. The goal of that plan is to catch cyber weaknesses before they become actual breaches.
- Chris Cummiskey, former deputy under secretary for management at the Department of Homeland Security, now chief executive officer of Cummiskey Strategic Solutions, said the “white hat” hackers will help CISA understand the current cyber threat landscape as well as emerging threats.
- Cummiskey is optimistic about the new committee and said CISA Director Jen Easterly understands the importance of building trust with the hacking community.
- He said he recommends the committee prioritize inclusivity and transparency and make sure the hackers have the opportunity to weigh in.
