Tara Murphy Dougherty, president of the National Security Practice at Govini, discusses DoD’s efforts to ensure their supply chain security, and the top takeaways from the department’s President’s Budget for FY2020.
President Donald Trump unveiled his budget proposal for fiscal year 2020 last month, and the Department of Defense is looking to receive an increase in funding in order to help solve supply chain problems. Tara Murphy Dougherty, president of the National Security Practice at Govini, says that the budget for RD&T has been a problem for the Pentagon in the past. “One thing that continues to plague defense leaders in the Pentagon is an inability to really understand what is really happening in that ‘black box’ of funding and how that impacts things all the way down the supply chain,” Murphy Dougherty says. “One thing that DoD doesn’t do well is track what is spent, what goes out the door from that budget.”
