Agencies have been working for years to institute strong IT governance strategies that lead to savings and better performing IT systems. The Department of Veterans Affairs has been continually tweaking its plan.
- Merissa Larson, executive director for quality and risk in the VA Office of Information and Technology (OIT), said her team has embraced IT governance as it is a major part of their culture and operations.
- Martha Orr, deputy chief information officer for quality, performance and risk in the VA OIT, said IT governance is the methodology for decision making in her office, supported by a collaborative teaming environment.
- Larson and Orr said the governance process is involved in reviewing acquisitions to ensure the best use of resources.
