Frank Strickland, managing director at Deloitte Consulting, discusses the Pentagon’s artificial intelligence efforts, and the proper process to build AI tools.
The military is looking to use artificial intelligence to fulfill many missions, but the technology’s overarching use could be used to boost readiness. However, achieving that goal will take multiple tools. Frank Strickland, managing director at Deloitte Consulting, says that there’s a process to building AI that solves the right problems. “We have to work what I call the iron triangle, we have to get the right question for an AI model, we have to get the right data for that model, and then we have to get the right modeling approach. That’s iterative and it’s hard. We don’t want clients to rush past the problem definition phase. It’s a difficult task and it’s essential,” Strickland said.
