The Pentagon wants to move $4.3 billion to fund emergency COVID-19 requirements, Federal News Network reports. The 2021 Compendium from the Defense Department’s Office of Inspector General has 65 recommendations on workforce safety and effective spending during the pandemic.

  • Troy Meyer, acting deputy inspector general for audit at the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (OIG), said the department recognizes the urgency of the pandemic-related recommendations and is working on implementing these and the OIG’s other recommendations for management improvement.
  • Meyer said this year’s compendium showed positive trends, with decreases in open and unresolved recommendations and a decline in the rate of increase for recommendations over five years old.
  • Meyer said his office has been working closely with the Defense Department and meeting regularly to discuss necessary actions and documentation.
