Mika Cross, federal workplace expert at FlexJobs, discusses results from the latest OPM WellCheck assessment, and why building a good work-life balance makes for a better workforce.

According to the Office of Personnel Management’s latest WellCheck Assessment, NASA’s Ames Research Center is among the best places to work. OPM says that qualities like flexible scheduling and healthier food options make offices run smoother and more efficient. Mika Cross, federal workplace expert at FlexJobs, told Government Matters that building a good work-life balance is important for federal agencies.

“It’s fact that work-life and support for work-life programs and measures is one of the five integral pillars of employee engagement,” Cross said. “From GAO to OPM, all across the government, we know that the very best places to work, time and time again, those same agencies that are on the workplace assessment report that scored so high, are the same ones that have high levels of engagement and are ranked the best in government.”
