The first draft is available now of a blueprint for the future of financial management in the federal government. The team that developed it calls it the “The CFO of the Future Now: The 2030 Plan.”
- Mike Wetklow, Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the National Science Foundation and a member of the Chief Financial Officers Council, said the recent 30th anniversary of the Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990, which intended to reform federal financial management, spurred the creation of the plan.
- Wetklow said the finance workforce of the future will need to be ready to translate technology and data into innovation in financial management processes.
- Stephen Kunze, Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Commerce and also on the Council, said they are taking an agile, iterative approach to the plan and will conduct an annual review to ensure consistent direction.
