The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will build new cyber protections for the .gov domain. It’s asking industry for information about registry and lifecycle services for agency domains.
- Ron Marks, former Central Intelligence Agency official and intelligence advisor to two Senate majority leaders, currently president of ZPN Cyber and National Security Strategies, said he thinks this is an initial step towards consolidating more authority under CISA over civilian agency networks.
- Marks said moving cyber responsibilities from other areas in the civilian sector to CISA is one of the issues the new national cyber director, Chris Inglis, should focus on.
- Marks said the main topic he will watch in the coming months is the budget, because that is crucial for getting things done.
