Strategic Human Capital Management has made the Government Accountability Office’s High-Risk List for the 20th year in a row. Only about 6% of the government’s human resources workforce is under the age of 30.
- Loren Dejonge Schulman, Vice President of Research at the Partnership for Public Service, said government organizations should prioritize HR and start by asking hard questions related to areas like speed of the hiring process and customer feedback.
- Schulman said organizations must acknowledge any problems, engage in transparent and consistent communication around transformation and focus on achieving good over achieving efficiencies.
- Biden administration leaders can make progress by asking questions around whether HR needs to be transformed and what they need to do to invest in it, said Schulman.
