The Air Force’s Installation and Mission Support Center has an initiative called the Office of the Future. Its goal is to combine the benefits of telework with the benefits of collaboration.
- Col. Kevin Mantovani (USAF), vice commander of the Installation & Mission Support Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, said his team redesigned the headquarters office to support a hybrid, flexible workplace, building on the success employees had with teleworking during the pandemic.
- Mantovani said buy-in from senior leaders was more natural than it would have been a few years ago and that people are excited but also nervous.
- Mantovani said they are experimenting to find what works best and recommends other military organizations try a similar approach.
