Agencies have a long list of deadlines to meet to comply with President Biden’s executive order on cybersecurity. One of the goals of the order is to prevent attacks on the federal government like the Colonial Pipeline and JBS attacks.
- Brandon Wales, Acting Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), said the aggressiveness, frequency and scope of recent attacks are significant and should be a wake up call for government and private sector leaders.
- Wales said radical transformation of government cybersecurity posture and focused work to strengthen critical infrastructure are required given the current threat level.
- Wales said CISA has recently been focusing on deeper operational collaboration with the private sector and using new authorities provided by Congress this year to stand up a Joint Cyber Planning Office.
