The Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ honors the leaders and legends of the government contracting community. It is a premier celebratory event honoring the leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence of the individuals and businesses in the region’s government contracting sector. The awards celebrate high achieving individuals and companies for their performance and contribution to the Government Contracting industry.

A prestigious panel of industry and government professionals select finalists and winners from a large pool of nominees. Winners include companies and executives across a range of revenue levels who have distinguished themselves in the industry.

Presented by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (formerly the Fairfax Chamber) and the Professional Services Council (PSC), the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ winners are announced at an evening gala, which has been dubbed the “Academy Awards of Government Contracting.” This unique networking event draws more than 1,000 industry and government leaders.

The award categories include: Contractor of the Year in four revenue categories, Executive of the Year in three revenue categories, and one Program of the Year. In addition, an outstanding leader from the government contracting sector is inducted into the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards Hall of Fame in honor of his or her tremendous lifetime achievements and one individual is selected as the Public Sector Partner of the Year.

The awards include:

Contractor of the Year: This award is presented to a government contractor in the Greater Washington-area for distinguished financial and operational accomplishments. The award has been divided into four different revenue categories and is selected in recognition of distinguished financial and operational accomplishments and outstanding contributions during the past year to employees, the government contracting industry, and the U.S. Government.

Contractor of the Year (up to $25 million)
Contractor of the Year ($25 to $75 million)
Contractor of the Year ($75 to $300 million)
Contractor of the Year (greater than $300 million)

Executive of the Year: This award is presented a Greater Washington-area government contracting C-level executive who made outstanding contributions to his/her company, the community and the government contracting industry during the past year. Three awards will be presented in this category, stratified by gross annual revenue using the most recent fiscal year-end revenues.

Executive of the Year (up to $75 million)
Executive of the Year ($75 to $300 million)
Executive of the Year (greater than $300 million)

CRITERIA

Contractor of the Year
Applicants must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Be headquartered in the Greater Washington, DC region defined as south of Baltimore, north of Richmond, from the Chesapeake to the Shenandoah;
  • Have more than 50 percent of employees in the Greater Washington, DC region; or
  • Have at least 1,000 or more employees in the Greater Washington, DC region

Program of the Year: The Program of the Year Award is the most exemplary contracted program among all programs described within Contractor of the Year applications. In order to be considered for this award, you must apply for Contractor of the Year in any of the four revenue categories. The winner is recommended by the Selection Committee through a combination of mission achievement, financial success and customer recognition.

Executive of the Year
Applicants must meet BOTH of the following criteria:

  • Be a C-level executive of a government contracting company; and
  • Reside in the Greater Washington, DC region

Public Sector Partner of the Year: This award recognizes outstanding procurement professionals for demonstrated leadership and vision in building a spirit of partnership with the private sector and leading change in the procurement community. The Public Sector Partner of the Year is nominated and chosen by the Selection Committee.

Hall of Fame Honoree: The Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ Hall of Fame inducts one honoree each year for unparalleled professional excellence and life-long contributions to the community and the government contracting industry. The Hall of Fame honoree is nominated and chosen by the Selection Committee.
