Service to America Medal Finalists announced
The Partnership for Public Service has announced the finalists for the 2017 Service to America Medals. At an event Tuesday morning on Capitol Hill, the Partnership recognized 26 finalists and their teams in six different categories. This year, the achievements include stopping a Volkswagen scheme to evade emission standards, designing and building new light-weight body armor for warfighters and building the largest repository of genetic sequence data. Attendees at the breakfast event also heard from several Cabinet secretaries, like Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin.
